The Laboratory for the Study of Human Ingestive Behavior
Mission and Research Objectives
The Laboratory for the Study of Human Ingestive Behavior at The Pennsylvania State University has been under the direction of Dr. Barbara J. Rolls since 1992. The lab is a non-profit research facility fulfilling the service, research, and teaching objectives of the College of Health and Human Development.
Our research is funded by grants from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. The lab's research is dedicated to advancing our understanding of human eating behavior, with particular emphasis on understanding the causes of obesity. Research from the lab has been reported in dozens of magazines and newspapers, along with coverage on the radio, including The Infinite Mind on NPR, as well as TV shows such as 20/20, The Today Show, and network news programs.
